Turn Your Home into Your Summer Staycation
Summer is finally here! That means it’s time for pool days, family visits, and dinner parties. Before you begin planning all of your summer affairs, be sure to tend to your house. You can turn your home into the perfect staycation spot for both you and your family this summer with just a few simple projects. Check out our tips below for easy ways to turn your home into a perfect summer getaway.
Tidy Up Outside
One of the reasons we love summer is the beautiful florals that flourish during this season. Before the weather gets too hot, be sure to tidy up the flower beds. Put down fresh pine straw or mulch and have the appropriate flowers or greenery growing blooming this time of year. Add hanging plants and pots to your porch and the entrances. If you grow your own flowers, be sure to bring some inside! Add fresh flowers to your vases and place them around the house.
Clean the Deck/Patios
Now that it’s warm, you’re going to be spending more time outside and your front lawn isn’t the only thing you should be taking care of. If you have an outdoor living space such as a deck, patio, or porch, put out and clean off all of your outdoor furniture. Change out the seat covers and throw pillows to any sitting areas to match the season. Go ahead and blow off any leaves or debris that are still hanging around these areas. You may even want to consider adding a new coat of paint to your deck and furniture to freshen them up for the summer!
Now that the new season is here, it’s time to decorate accordingly. Put out the summer hand towels and throw pillows to bring the summer feeling into your home. You can also accessorize with fruit by putting out bowls of oranges, lemons, and other citrus fruits. Swap out your heavy window treatments for light and flowy curtains that allow sunlight to fill up the room. Additionally, if you have any floral print or brightly colored decor, be sure to put it out!
Be Guest Ready
Like the holidays, summer is the season to spend time with friends and family. As the weather gets warmer, the number of home visitors usually increases. Before you have to entertain, be sure to have all the essentials you need to host. Bring out the appropriate amount of seating and table settings for both your indoor and outdoor living spaces. If you have a bar or bar cart, be sure to stock up for any upcoming dinners you host. We suggest also adding extra lounge chairs and towels for your guests that drop by for a swim for those with pools.
Whether you’re planning to jet-set away for the summer or spend your days at home, we hope you enjoy the season and have a house you enjoy living in! You can use our ideas to easily spruce up and refresh your home to match the fun and playful ambiance of summer!
